A book club for introverts! The Great Falls Public Library will start a new 'Silent Book Club' chapter on Jan. 20 at 10 am. It will be held on the third Saturday of each month at Luna Coffee Bar, at 9 5th St N in downtown Great Falls.

Often with traditional book clubs there's the scramble to finish the assigned book, and the pressure to have something smart to say.  At the Silent Book Club, everyone brings their own book.  People spend a few minutes greeting each other and sharing what we are reading, then they READ SILENTLY and drink their beverages. It is a place where folks can just enjoy books, friends, and drinks — without any expectations.

Guinevere de la Mare and Laura Gluhanich co-founded the Silent Book Club organization in 2012 in Seattle. According to its website, "SBC chapters are organized by volunteers who commit to meeting once a month in the host city. Organizers are responsible for locating a venue, scheduling the meetup, and greeting fellow readers at the event." There are more than 400 chapters across 47 countries with the U.S., India and Italy having the most of all the countries across the globe.
