The Great Falls Public Library’s Youth Services Department will begin its annual Summer Reading Program on Friday, June 4th, Great Falls Public Schools’ last day. Start your summer vacation off right with a visit to the Library after your early out to decorate a free tote bag in front of the Library and get signed up to win great prizes for your reading this summer!
Babies, kids, and teens birth to 18 are invited to read, read, read and win great prizes! Keep track of your reading using our READSquared app or a paper log! Prizes available will include Dairy Queen gift cards, mini LEGO kits, slime, fidget toys, water bottle stickers, and much more!
This year, the Library will introduce a new Summer Reading program just for teens. YA readers 12 to 18 will be eligible to get their own curated Library Loot Box full of personalized book recommendations and treats! Just fill out the Google Form available on our website, then pick up your box at the Circulation Desk and use our READSquared app to track your reading. Enjoy the treats, and return to the books to the Library within the usual 4 weeks. Complete 2 out of 3 of the books included in your box, and you will be entered to win a new Nintendo Switch Lite preloaded with games!
Join us for fantastic virtual animal programming with Zoo Montana and shadow puppet performances and workshops by Firelight Shadow Theater. These programs will stream live on Facebook and will be accompanied by new craft kits each week. Pick them up in the Kids’ Place.
The Great Falls Public Library will celebrate Family Pride from Friday, June 4th to Saturday, June 12th. Visit Kids’ Place to take a selfie in front of our Family Pride rainbow backdrop, then pick up a popsicle stick picture frame kit with lots of stickers to decorate it. Teens and adults can also grab a Pride-themed wall-hanging macramé craft kit. We will release 9 videos all about LGBTQ+ books for kids, teens, and families, and we will also stock the new Little Free Libraries in our Great Falls parks with LGBTQ+ books for you and your family to keep! Youth Services staff invite kids and teens 8 and up to try a new Dumbledore’s Army adventure: the Escape the Great Falls Public Library of Witchcraft and Wizardry! This virtual escape room will be available on our website, greatfallslibrary.org, beginning Saturday, June 19th. Solve all the magical puzzles within, then visit the Kids’ Place desk to pick up your prize: A Harry Potter figurine with a self-inking stamper in the base. Limit one per child/teen while our supplies last.
